Since 2007, the Réserve Naturelle has continued its annual scientific study of the reefs and plant beds.
This year that activity took place on October 4-6, 2016. An agent of the Réserve Naturelle of Petite-Terre and another from the Réserve Marine in Saint Barth were present in order to help the team from Saint Martin collect underwater data on such sites as Rocher Créole, Pinel, and Tintamare, as well as outside of the Réserve, at the Fish Pot site in the Anguilla Channel. The data is currently being analyzed. As part of this underwater collaboration project, Steeve Ruillet went to lend a hand in Petite-Terre on September 19-21 and Julien Chalifour was in Saint Barth on September 26-28. The goal of this scientific study of the marine milieu within the Réserve Naturelle is to document the evolution of the condition of the coral communities and plant beds.
